Die Namen der Ermordeten sind dauerhaft eingeschrieben in eine Gedenkwand, die den Ausgangspunkt der Mainzer Deportationen markiert. Die \u00d6ffnung des Platzes zum \u00f6ffentlichen Fahr- und Gehwegenetz weist ihn weithin sichtbar als Ort des Gedenkens aus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Partizipation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Entwurf verzichtet auf eine gro\u00dfe Geste und versucht stattdessen die B\u00fcrgerinnen und B\u00fcrger partizipativ in die Gestaltung einzubeziehen.<br>Erst beim Betreten des Platzes erlebt der Betrachter die suggestive Wirkung der Perspektive.<br>Die zun\u00e4chst kaum wahrnehmbare, r\u00fcckw\u00e4rtige Verspiegelung des Bauk\u00f6rpers verl\u00e4ngert die historischen Gleise in eine imagin\u00e4re Ferne, die gleichzeitig reflektierte Gegenwart ist.<br>Der Spiegel wird mit Ausz\u00fcgen aus den \u00fcberlieferten Briefen der Deportierten bedruckt, die deren Erfahrungen zur\u00fcck nach Mainz \u00fcbermittelten.<br>Die in den Bodenbelag eingesetzten, menschlichen Schatten stehen f\u00fcr den tragischen Verlust der j\u00fcdischen Mitb\u00fcrger und erinnern an die mit diesem Ort verbundene, historische Schuld &#8211; als Apell, der nicht vergeht, als Schatten der bleibt.<br>Wenn sich an sonnigen Tagen der eigene Schattenwurf mit den Schattenbildern im Bodenbelag kreuzt, dann wird die pers\u00f6nliche Reflexion des Betrachters in ganz besonderer Weise herausgefordert. Dies geschieht nicht immer \u2013 jedes Mal anders \u2013 aber sicher immer wieder von Neuem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Platzgestaltung<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Gedenkort nimmt wesentliche Bez\u00fcge zum ehemaligen G\u00fcterbahnhof auf und entfaltet dabei eine markante Platzsituation mit Aufenthalts- und Erfahrungsqualit\u00e4t. Die geplanten Sitzm\u00f6glichkeiten, eine \u00dcberdachung, sowie die Beleuchtung des Platzes machen den Ort auch nachts, sowie und bei schlechtem Wetter erlebbar, erfahrbar und nutzbar.<br>Die Erg\u00e4nzung des Baumbestandes im Umfeld des Platzes tr\u00e4gt wesentlich zu dessen r\u00e4umlicher Fassung bei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eine k\u00fcnstlerische Rauminszenierung<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die geplante Gedenkst\u00e4tte nimmt bewusst Abstand von der oft k\u00f6rperhaften Schwere eines Mahnmals.<br>Es schafft stattdessen einem offenen Raum der Partizipation.<br>Beim Betreten des Platzes erweist er sich als B\u00fchne der Reflexion &#8211; nur in ihrer geistigen Form, sondern auch in mehrfacher visueller Weise.<br>Da ist zum einen die verspiegelte Wand des scheinbaren Tores, das den Schienenstrang in ein optisches Jenseits verl\u00e4ngert und gleichzeitig den Betrachter selbst in die Situation hineinspiegelt.<br>Und zum anderen die in den Boden gesetzten Schatten, die sich bei Sonnenschein mit den K\u00f6rperschatten der Besucher kreuzen.<br>\u00dcberraschend und unmittelbar werden so die Besucher Teil des Arrangements \u2013 ber\u00fchrt von den Schatten der Vergangenheit.<br>Die Kraft dieser Gedenkst\u00e4tte wird sich in ihrer Stille entfalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dezember 2023 .
